Jeep Grand Cherokee will once in a while crank but not start?

I have a 98 Grand Cherokee 5.2. A few times over the summer and a few times last week it will crank but not start on its own. After a long time of trying I can get it to stay running by keeping my foot on the gas a little bit after letting go of the key. its a 98..ever been tuned up…?? also throw in a can of injector cleaner ..cant hurt.
